The highly-awaited second season of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel debuts on the streaming platform soon, and audience theories has been widespread.
The first season presents a large cast of personalities residing in Hell and Heaven, sets them at odds with songs detailing their conflicts, and establishes tense rivalries and emotional bonds that drive fan obsession.
The community's expectations for season 2 vary widely, but certain themes recur frequently: Will Angel Dust break free from Valentino? Will we find out more about the mysterious "deal" affecting the enigmatic Alastor? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?
"Naturally, I don't produce the show with fan service specifically in mind," the showrunner commented recently. "However I feel like me being a fan of my own show means there's a lot of it just inherently. I also am eager for these things, and I hope some of these things to happen, and obviously some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
The creator says her long-term vision is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have received approval by the production companies, which produce the series.
That could imply fans have to be patient for some of the biggest payoffs — but they may be surprised at how fast the new season progresses, and how much of what they're waiting for unfolds this season.
"I believe people are going to be highly satisfied," she adds. "We get some firsts. I think we get some incredible reveals, some fascinating origin tales, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear much more singing from the previously silent cast members."
The creator is well-informed of the theories and desires about season 2 — especially in the form of audience prediction charts.
"I've seen a few fans make a prediction grid about season 2," she says. "Obviously I won't share it, but I've actually done a few items, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I was like, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that makes me think we accomplish much [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I realized, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that makes me happy."
Hazbin Hotel the second season launches on the streaming service on Oct. 29.
